Visitors from Nepal
The club had the pleasure of a visit from a member of our sister club in Nepal - and what's more, their President!

Laxmi Thapa, the current leader of the Rotary Club of Pokhara Fishtail, recently spent time in Dronfield as part of her first visit to Europe. She helped the Rotary Club of Bristol celebrate their centenary, then joined us for a week. Business was mixed with pleasure. Laxmi was hosted by Senior Vice President Rob Barron and President Maureen Taylor. She visited beautiful Derbyshire and the city of York; she got to know many people and places around our town.

No less than three local schools are sponsors of poor but clever students in Pokhara, Nepal. They send regular cash to keep the youngsters in school. As a thank you, Laxmi Thapa and Maureen Taylor, along with Fishtail Fund Coordinator David Lumb, visited the schools with a presentation about Nepal and an up-date of the students' progress. Laxmi brought gifts as a thank-you from her club.
