Rotary Junior Community Award
At an event held at the end of June in the Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School, 63 children from across Dronfield were guests of the Drone Valley Rotary Club's annual event to present the Junior Rotary Community Award.
In order to attain the Award, the Y6 aged children had to successfully complete a programme of activities in Community Service, Social Experience, Physical Recreation and develop a personal skill. The programme is designed to raise the individual child's self-esteem and confidence. This is in tandem with the development of a knowledge and understanding of life in a community which has diversity in terms of ages and other differences.
Since 2010, Drone Valley Rotary Club has run the award in primary schools, and from the 2017/18 school year, the Rotary Club of Dronfield will be inviting schools to participate.
The presentations were made by Drone Valley Rotarian, Anne Ledbetter as the host club, with assistance from the Deputy Mayor of Dronfield, Richard Welton.
