| Dronfield Festival of Leisure back |
Try something new! This was the theme at Dronfield School recently when the The Rotary Club of Dronfield decided it was time to try to get together leisure and hobby groups serving the town - to display their wares and attract new members. Desert the TV! Join a Group! they urged the people of Dronfield.

The Festival was blessed with sunny weather and attracted over 1,000 members of the public, far more than predicted. as local people arrived they were greeted by outdoor displays featuring Edale Mountain Rescue's Emergency vehicle and a very striking new exhibition provided by Chesterfield Canal Trust. Inside no less than 61 organisations were able to promote themselves.
Wonderful support was offered by Mayor Wendy Temple, who opened the event, personally visited all displays, then stayed to man a stall herself, as well as local MP Natasha Engel with her entire family.
Light refreshments were provided by the Inner Wheel Club of Dronfield’ resulting in a profit of £500 for one of the charities they are supporting - ‘Yorkshire Air Ambulance’. Winner of the bottle of Champagne was Nadine Elwell of Hallowes Lane.
